VirtaMed Revolutionizes Orthopedic Training with Launch of Meniscal Repair Simulation Module

February 15, 2023

Experience Realistic Meniscal Tear Repairs with the New Innovative Training Solution from VirtaMed

Zurich, Switzerland - VirtaMed, a leading provider of medical training simulators, announced the launch of its Meniscal Repair Module. This innovative new module allows trainees to practice and perform a range of techniques to repair different types of meniscal tears. The module includes simulations for the all-inside technique, outside-in technique, transtibial pullout technique for meniscal root repair, and meniscal ramp repair using a two-portal posteromedial approach.

The Meniscal Repair Module has been developed by VirtaMed in collaboration with the renowned orthopedic surgeon Professor Romain Seil, who has over 20 years of experience in the field of arthroscopy and meniscal repair. The module builds upon VirtaMed’s previous work on developing innovative orthopedic training simulators and has been financed by a European innovation grant. Professor Seil and his team at the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL) committed their extensive knowledge and expertise to the development of this module.

"We are thrilled to launch this innovative new simulation module which will provide orthopedic trainees with an educational and realistic experience for meniscal repair," said Professor Seil. "VirtaMed's technology offers a safe and effective way for trainees to practice and refine their skills, without risking harm to real patients."

"We are proud to have created a training module that provides an unparalleled level of realism and accuracy," said VirtaMed’s project coordinator Claude Hoeltgen. "We believe that this module will help to improve the standard of care for patients by providing trainees with the knowledge and skills they need to repair meniscal tears effectively."
