VirtaMed ArthroS™ Shoulder

  • The most realistic shoulder arthroscopy simulator
  • Courses developed jointly with the Arthroscopy Association of North America
  • Photorealistic graphics, surgical instruments and anatomically correct models

Validated Arthroscopic Simulation

Simulation training is an essential part of the educational pathway to train outside of the operating room. Independent validation studies show the VirtaMed ArthroS™ to be the most realistic and impactful teaching tool you can add to your training program.

Head-to-head comparisons of the VirtaMed ArthroS™ and other simulators repeatedly quantify the greater quality and educational relevance of this advanced arthroscopic simulator. With over forty cases, the VirtaMed ArthroS takes trainee surgeons from basic surgical instrument usage to completing advanced therapeutic procedures.

According to this study, it is possible to state that VR Simulators are just as effective as cadavers in means of training subjects.

Anatomically Correct Patient Model

  • Anatomic right shoulder model provides learning-essential haptic feedback, including a realistic palpation of landmarks, and movements such as abduction, adduction, flexion, traction and rotation

  • Supports risk-free portal placement training
  • Easily and rapidly switch between lateral decubitus and beach chair position

Rotator Cuff Repair

Specially designed to teach one of the most in-demand procedures, the rotator cuff repair module is an add-on to the ArthroS™ Shoulder module.

Double row rotator cuff repair is a complex procedure with many steps and multiple instruments. This module supports trainees with step-by-step instructions and augmented reality guidance. Three diagnostic and two therapeutic cases include guidance on correct anchor locations and placement, knotless suture management, tendon piercing, and fixation procedure steps.

Therapeutic Procedures

Use arthroscopic instruments to train subacromial debridements, subacromial decompressions, and loose body removals.

Objective feedback reports provide learners with essential information on how well they performed the procedure and which aspects to focus on next time.

With simulation, the next patient is just a click away!

Guided Diagnostics & Therapeutics

Learn instrument handling and triangulation skills while avoiding cartilage damage. Learn to visualize relevant structures with an arthroscope, palpate them with a probe, and resect them with a punch and shaver.

Experts from the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) have defined guided tours so that trainees learn the optimal path to take when performing a diagnostic tour.
