On June 22-24, visitors saw behind the curtains at Balgrist hospital Zurich
100 years ago, in 1912, the future Balgrist hospital was founded. Since then, the focus of the institution lay on mobility and on the musculoskeletal system. On the weekend of June 22-24, Balgrist invited the public to learn more about the latest developments in the orthopedic field.
The idea behind the centennial was to give visitors an idea of the daily routine at the hospital. Everyone was able to try out different surgical procedures, for example on plastic models in the OR.
They also tested their skills on the ArthroS surgical simulator for knee arthroscopy. This state-of-the-art training tool has been developed by VirtaMed together with Dr. Peter Koch, Head of Knee Surgery at University of Zurich, Balgrist Hospital and his team.
